The first of CAHRO’s three workshops in November was a smashing success. Over 40 people from across the region gathered in Riverside to discuss “Creating a more informed and inclusive multicultural society: working to eliminate prejudice, intolerance and discrimination.”
The event was co-sponsored by the City of Riverside Human Relations Commission and featured presentations by California State University professor Brian Levin who spoke about hate and extremism and Attorney Jack Clarke who spoke about race relations and men and boys of color. Engaging small group discussions followed with participants focusing on how Human Relations Commissions, CAHRO, other institutions and community based organizations can work on these topics.
CAHRO and the Riverside Human Relations Commission will be using the information that came out of the discussions to help build and strengthen strategies that support inclusive human relations across the state.
