It is a sad fact of Republican politics that wild statements from its right flank are rarely challenged by ranking party leaders. Give credit to John McCain, too often a wayward voice in recent years, for taking to the Senate floor Wednesday to skewer a crackpot allegation of a Muslim Brotherhood conspiracy to infiltrate the government.
